Biography

Since 1986 Cyril has taught commercial and legal subjects on a sessional basis at a number of universities and colleges. He has taught at all levels from vocational education to postgraduate and focuses on executive education.

Since 1987 he has simultaneously run a business improvement advisory and training business, and currently works two days per week at UBSS. For the rest of the week, he works as an accountant in his accounting practice (Cyril Jankoff Certified Practising Accountant), a solicitor in his legal practice (Jankoff Solicitors), and is a frequent circuit speaker in business improvement where he focuses on the procurement, sales and contact management areas and frequently runs one and two-day professional development in-house and public seminars in Australia and internationally. He also speaks at conferences. In May 2023 he was an APAC mentor for the World Commerce and Contracting Leaders of the Future Team, and in June he was an APAC judge for the WCC Innovation & Excellence Awards 2023.

Cyril’s doctorate comprised two parts, business improvement, and how to train managers, staff and their external advisers to better run their businesses.

He has written three business improvement books, one on procurement and contract management, one on Australian business law and one on finance and accounting. He has also co-authored four books, one on general business improvement, one on what one can learn from every day successful Australian entrepreneurs, one on business ethics and one summarising the eight UBSS compulsory MBA subjects. He has also contributed chapters to 6 books.

Cyril focuses on the teaching and administration of executive-level students and his teaching philosophy is that he believes in ‘practical education’, that what you learn today you must be able to apply tomorrow, and that this education should be engaging and informative. Through his professional activities, Cyril is able to provide current business practices through the use of quality case studies.

He is an UBSS Associate Professor and currently is Associate Dean – Scholarship and also Associate Program Director (Undergraduate and Graduate Studies, Melbourne CBD Campus). Until the end of 2023, he was Program Director of Executive Delivery Mode MBA and Program Director of Undergraduate Studies at Melbourne CBD Campus.
