Academic Staff Biographies:
Tony Antoniou, BA. LLB (Macq), GradDipLegal (College of Law), LLM (UNSW)
Tony is currently Assistant Professor and Senior Lecturer-in-Law at the Universal Business School Sydney. Tony has over ten years undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience. This includes work as the National Lecturer in Charge and Senior Lecturer/Tutor-in-Law at Kaplan Business School, the National Head of Law, National Course Coordinator and as Senior Lecturer-in-Law at the Holmes Institute, Unit Leader and Senior Lecturer/Tutor-in-Law at the University of Sydney, Unit Leader and Senior Lecturer/Tutor-in-Law at Macquarie University and as Course Co-ordinator and Senior Lecturer/Tutor-in-Law at Macleay College and the University of Ballarat. During this time, Tony’s teaching has focused on the areas of Business Law, Corporations Law and Tax Law.
Tony has over ten years legal experience. He previously worked for the UK Ministry of Defence, the NSW Attorney General’s Office, the Aboriginal Legal Service and South-Eastern Lawyers. Tony has practised in all areas of law having specialised in the areas of Criminal, Commercial and Corporate Law. He has also practiced in all areas of litigation (both civil and criminal law) in the Local, District and Supreme Courts. Tony is currently working as a Legal Consultantand specialises in Commercial and Corporate Law with a specific interest in Compliance and Legal Risk Management.
Dr Chanissara(Sara) Arjpru, PhD (UTS), MBC (UNSW)
Sara has an educational background in Information Systems and Computer Sciences. Sara has been awarded a PhD degree in Information System from University of Technology, Sydney and a master degree in Information Systems from University of New South Wales. Her PhD is focusing on studying the factors that motivate the employees to continue using the Information System in their work. Sara is currently teaching Management Information System and IT for Accountants at UBSS. Sara has over 14 years of teaching experiences at several universities locally and internationally in the discipline of Information Systems. Her roles are subject co-ordinator, lecturer, tutor, lab demonstrator and lab assistance. Besides UBSS, the universities that she is currently working are The University of Sydney and University of Technology, Sydney. Sara is also currently working as a researcher in IT education. Sara also works as a database developer, Accounting Information System developer and trainer in IT industries.
Igor Bosma, MBA (Deakin), GradDipMgmt (UTS)
Igor has been lecturing at UBSS since January 2009. He currently delivers a range of subjects focusing on Innovation, Organisational Behaviour, Ethics and Management. He also lectures and tutors at the University of Wollongong with a predominate focus on Marketing and Management from introductory to post graduate levels. Igor currently consults with TAFE in a range of marketing, management and HR disciplines in the development of course content as well as industry (RTO) compliance.
Igor has diverse industry experience with an early electrical engineering background to operations management, marketing and management across a range of industries in both the private and public sectors. Igor has a private pilot's licence and enjoys project managing (as well as turning his hand to) property renovations for profit and Australian History.
Nisha Dookie, BCom (Natal), MBus (Uni Sth Africa)
Nisha is an assistant professor at UBSS. Nisha has years of experience in the areas extending to financial accounting, internal and external auditing and taxation.Nisha has teaching experience a public universities in the past and has taught mainly second and third level accounting and taxation subject. She graduated with an Honours in Bachelor of Commerce with majors in Accounting and Auditing. She has also completed her Masters of Business Leadership with majors in Corporate Strategy and e-Commerce. Nisha has worked at various types of industries in the public and private sectors.
Lu Jiao, BCom (Hons) (Macq), CA, PhD (Candidate)
Lu is an assistant professor of UBSS. Lu’s expertise is the area of financial accounting and audit. He is a qualified charted accountant, trained auditor and consultant.
Lu had been teaching at a number of public universities in the past and he mainly teaches the second and third year financial accounting, management accounting and auditing subjects.
Also, Lu was an audit manager with WHK, which is one of top five accounting and advisory firms in the country. He graduated with a Honours in Bachelor of Commerce major in Accounting and Finance. Lu started his career with Deloitte Touché Thomatsu in its audit and assurance division. He later joined an internal audit and consulting firm-Protiviti. Lu has years’ experience in the areas of financial audit, financial accounting advisory, SOX, project assurance, business process improvement. He served clients from a variety of industry sectors-both public and private enterprises .
Divya Judge. MBA (Schiller: Lond), BSc (India)
Divya has been with UBSS since July of 2011. Her main areas of teaching are Marketing and International Business. She has completed her Masters in Business Administration from London. Divya has over 11 years teaching experience at the tertiary level. She started her teaching career as a Lecturer at Schiller University, Strasbourg teaching undergraduate courses in Marketing. She sees herself as a facilitator of learning and enjoys teaching and learning. During her career, she has taught students from several different nationalities and ethnic backgrounds. She has also lived and worked in over six different countries. This has given her a good insight into the learning processes of students from various countries and helped her to contextualise her Management, Administration, Communication and Teaching roles.
Dr Nilima Paul, PhD, MCom, BCom (Chittagong)
Nilima is a passionate trainer and an academic, and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to her with UBSS. She has amassed more than 21 years' experience teaching Accounting, Finance, Business and Statistics subjects around the world at institutions including the University of New England, James Cook University, University of Ballarat, and the University of Chittagong.
She has numerous qualifications to her credit, including a PhD in Accounting, a Master of Commerce (Accounting), Bachelor of Commerce with Honours in Accounting, as well as a Diploma of Business (Accounting). Her main areas of academic training and expertise are Accounting, Finance and Computerised Accounting. Nilima has also written many accounting courses and modules in Australia for distance education.
She thrives on a challenge and enjoys helping others to achieve their best. Nilima's career goal is to impart knowledge to students in a manner that continually inspires them to learn.
Wayne Smithson, MBA (CQU), CPA, JP
Wayne has experience in both academia and industry. He has taught various accounting subjects, including Management Accounting at different universities in Australia. He worked as finance director at Ernst & Young; and banking and finance industry for more than 10 years. Currently he is working (part time) as Associate Director of a venture capital company. Wayne holds an MBA from Southern Cross University and has a bachelor degree majoring in Accounting and Economics. Wayne is a Graduate Member of Australian Institute of Directors and Fellow of the Financial Industry and Securities Institute of Australia.
Dr Syed Jamal Uddin, PhD (Glasgow) (Glasgow) (, Cert IV (Workplace Training and Assessment), BCom (First Class Honours), MCom
Syed has 30 years teaching, research and industry experience and he lectures in Business Management at the University of Ballarat (Sydney Campus) in Australia. Previously, he served as an Associate Professor at the University of Dhaka in Bangladesh and as a Senior Research Fellow at the Loughborough University Business School in England. His papers appeared in the International Executive, European Journal of Business Ethics, Thunderbird International Business Review, Journal of Business Administration and Journal of Business Studies. He researches on business ethics, international and strategic management and cross-cultural issues. Formerly a British Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship holder, Syed Uddin is the winner of Vice Chancellor’s Citation Award for contribution to students learning in 2010 at the University of Ballarat. He was also the recipient of the School of Business’s (University of Ballarat) inaugural Best Partner Teacher Award for 2009.
Syed is a member of the UBSS Faculty (sessional) and he teaches a number of subjects within the broader area of HRM and Management.
Brenton Price, MBA (UTS), B. App Science (UTS), Grad Cert Learning and Teaching (CSU)
Contracted as a sessional (adjunct) P/T Lecturer / Lead Lecturer / Subject Coordinator, Course Advisor and RPL Advisor in both Undergraduate & Postgraduate in Management, Marketing & Finance with extensive Teaching & Learning skills experience with both local and international students.
Brenton has also gained significant corporate / business experience and held a range of senior management positions from Marketing Manager, General Manager & CEO and continue to engage with corporate clients leveraging his skills and training experience.
Leanne McCoy, MBA (UTS) BA (UNE)
Leanne has over fifteen years relevant experience in the Australian tertiary education sector. She has led a variety of student admissions, administration and marketing teams in both international and domestic areas. She has worked for a range of institutions including universities and private higher and vocational education providers and therefore have an excellent understanding and knowledge of all facets of the constantly evolving education sector. She currently also teaches in the Professional Year Program for QIBA. The PYP program is for international graduates from Bachelor and Masters programs, who have completed their accounting qualification in Australia. My areas of teaching include Workplace Communication, Professional Performance, Business Writing and Presentations, and Workplace Relationships.
